8 Signs a Healthcare Career is the Right Path for You

Have you been looking for a new career path? Have you been considering healthcare but just aren’t sure if it’s right for you? Well, here are 8 signs that healthcare is the best choice for YOU!

  1. Do you love giving back?
    1. Healthcare is all about giving to others! Whether you’re conducting a new mother’s first ultrasound or helping a scared patient treat their cancer, a career in allied health is a career in caring for others.
  2. Has medicine always fascinated you, but you didn’t want to deal with Med School?
    1. Medicine takes a lot of rigorous training and certification but in fields like Radiography and Sonography that training will only take two years! With fields like Surgical Technology and Paramedic, it could take as little as one year!
  3. Are you looking for a job with projected job security?
    1. The demand for healthcare workers has been increasing, according to BLS.gov, which could mean more job security for you! In fact, BLS.gov says that New York State has the third highest employment rate for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in the country!
  4. Do you have a deep sense of community?
    1. We all know we are raised by our community as much as our family. If giving to your community is an important value to you, there is no better way to support the people in your life than by assisting in the tending of their medical needs.
  5. Are you looking for a job with above average earning potential?
    1. According to BLS.gov (as of January 2023), the NYC average wage for the programs offered at CAHE are:
      1. Radiography: $ 77,140
      2. Sonography: $ 85,940
      3. Radiation Therapy: $ 126,460
      4. Surgical Technology: $ 60,350
      5. Paramedic: $ 57,320
  1. Do you want a career that others respect and appreciate?
    1. Even when we don’t admit it, we all seek respect and appreciation from our peers. With a job in allied health that is just what you will get. It is hard to not be in awe of people who dedicate their lives to the well-being of others, especially in the field of medicine.
  2. Do you want your days to be filled with stimulation and excitement?
    1. Many of the programs CAHE offers have areas of specialization — such as Echo, Vascular, OB/GYN, and Abdomen in Sonography and continuing education into MRI in Radiography. This means that in addition to the excitement and variety of working in a clinical setting with new patients, you also have the opportunity to bring variety into your career.
  3. Is fulfillment from your vocation important to you?
    1. In any profession in healthcare, you will have the opportunity to bring hope to those in need. Once trained, you will possess the skills and knowledge to save lives. At CAHE, our favorite quote is “He who saves one man, it is as if he saved a whole world.” When you train in one of the professions we offer, whether it’s Emergency Medical Services, Radiation Therapy, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Radiography, or Surgical Technology, in essence, you are ensuring a future that makes a difference in the most vital way – by saving lives. What is more rewarding than preserving life and serving others?
